Detail information about job Research Associate. Terms and conditions vacancy

The Engineering Department at Lancaster University invites applications for a Grade 6 Research Associate to work on the EPSRC funded project “Renewable Hydrogen: Simultaneous Storage of Biorenewable Energy and Carbon Dioxide”.

You will conduct research and development in the field of electrocatalytic methane production using novel electrolytes. A particular focus will be on the development of a high-pressure process to produce hydrocarbons from carbon dioxide and hydrogen.

The research will also involve the study of the mutual solubility of related multicomponent mixtures at high-pressure in order to design phase-behaviour controlled reaction kinetics.

You will have a PhD in chemical engineering, chemistry, process engineering, or a closely related discipline. Experience in phase equilibria, electrochemical syntheses and characterization, as well as in analytical methods (NMR, GC-FID, GC-TCD, and FTIR) would be an advantage. A strong record of research productivity, as reflected in a substantial publication record, as well as excellent communication, management, and English writing skills will be required.

You must have excellent skills in interpersonal communications to effectively work in team, to prepare presentations, reports, and high quality journal papers. You will collaborate with teams of other universities and companies and will be actively involved in meetings, workshops, and conferences.

You will be responsible for the tasks of the project, subject to tight deadlines. An enthusiastic, independent, and energetic approach is expected.

Informal enquiries can be made to Dr Vesna Najdanovic (tel: +44 (0)1524 593586, email: [email protected]).

Interview date: 12 October 2017.

This is a full-time fixed-term post. The funds for this post are available for 18 months, supported by the EPSRC.

We welcome applications from people in all diversity groups.
