Detail information about job Postdoctoral Research Associate. Terms and conditions vacancy
A postdoctoral research position is available to work on a newly funded ERC project to Konrad Lohse (Institute of Evolutionary Biology, University of Edinburgh, UK) 'ModelGenomLand - Modelling the genomic landscapes of speciation and selection'. I am looking for an enthusiastic and motivated postdoc interested in comparative genomics and speciation.
The project will use large-scale genomic data from several pairs of European butterfly species to investigate the genomics of speciation in a comparative framework. The project will be carried out in close collaboration with Lepbase (http://lepbase.org/) and several Project Partners in the UK and abroad.
Within the project, the postdoc will be able to develop independent lines of research on comparative and evolutionary genomics with a view to establishing themselves as an independent investigator. The project includes substantial funds for sequencing, computing, and to attend international conferences. The position is for 3 years with a start date as early as February 1st 2018 (and can be extended for a further 2 years based on performance).
Applicants should have a strong background in comparative and/or evolutionary genomics and a PhD in a relevant subject area (genetics, bioinformatics). Experience working with short read data and good bioinformatics data skills are essential, as is a strong track record of independent and creative thinking. Experience with long read data, genome assembly, and genome analysis/interrogation would be very advantageous.
Closing Date: 06 October 2017 at 5pm GMT
