UCD College of Science
The School of Chemistry at University College Dublin wishes to appoint an Assistant Professor in the area of Electrochemistry with a starting date in 2018. This is a permanent, full-time position based at the School of Chemistry in the O’Brien Centre for Science on the Belfield Campus.
Candidates will have expertise in topics such as the development of approaches to explore the fundamental horizons of electrochemical phenomena (e.g., in biological media, ultrasmall volumes, complex dynamic systems, at the nanoscale or in extreme environments), the development of novel miniaturized soft/wearable and disposable microfluidic (bio-) electroanalytical multiplexed sensor technologies for detection and monitoring applications, the development of electrochemical approaches to molecular transformations relevant to catalysis and sustainable chemical technologies, or the development and integration of nanomaterials and other advanced functional materials into systems for clean energy conversion and storage. In addition, Candidates will also demonstrate: A high quality, internationally-recognised research track record appropriate to the stage of their career, the potential to attract the external funding necessary to support an active research programme, evidence of the ability to effectively teach a wide range of topics, at undergraduate and postgraduate levels, within the fields of Physical Chemistry, Electrochemistry, Analytical Chemistry, and General Chemistry, an ability to direct and supervise postgraduate students, and the willingness and ability to undertake administrative and other appropriate duties on behalf of the School and the University.
