The Department
The Academic Section is a large Professional Services area which contributes to the institution's mission of excellence in education and excellence in research by providing high standards of professional and administrative support to students and departments.
The PGRE Team provides oversight for all aspects of the University’s postgraduate research education, including Doctoral Training Partnerships and postgraduate research student skills development. The Team is part of the Quality and Development team in the Academic Section, which is responsible for the operational management, support and development of academic standards and quality across the university and Partnerships, overseeing academic quality assurance functions.
The Role and Duties
The Academic Section is seeking a professional and enthusiastic individual to fulfil this role within the PGRE Team.
This role presents an excellent opportunity for personal development for both internal and external candidates seeking to advance a career in higher education administration.
The postholder provides high-level support, expertise and guidance to colleagues across the academic departments, to PGR students, and to members of the Postgraduate Research Education team. Responsibilities include the review, development and coordination of administrative systems, processes and services relating to postgraduate research students. Also, contributing to events and projects to develop existing provision for research students and improve the student experience.
Qualification and Skills required
The successful candidate will have excellent administrative and organisational skills, and will be able to deal flexibly with a wide range of responsibilities and multiple priorities. You will be able to develop productive working relationships with colleagues at all levels of an organisation, seeking and offering clear advice and guidance.
Applicants should possess an honours degree or substantial equivalent experience, a minimum of 5 GCSE passes at A-C (or equivalent qualifications) including English Language and Mathematics, and recent administrative experience of working in higher education or a relevant administrative environment.
