The UCL Cancer Institute is the hub for cancer research at University College London, one of the World's leading universities. The Institute draws together over 300 talented scientists who are working together to translate research discoveries into developing kinder, more effective therapies for cancer patients.

A major focus of the Peggs group at the UCL Cancer Institute is manipulation of T-cells for therapeutic application. The purpose of this position is to lead on a new T-cell genome editing study, building upon existing pre-clinical proof-of-concept data. The position will conduct research around genome editing and lentiviral transduction of donor T-cells for in vitro and in vivo studies and a contribution to the demonstration of GMP scalability. GMP training will be provided as required during the tenure of this post to enable delivery of the clinical trial emerging from this project.

Duties and responsibilities of the post holder include but are not limited to: molecular cloning of required constructs; genome editing; multi-parametric flow cytometry (research and GLP settings); GMP cell product generation for scale-up and clinical trial use.

The position is funded until 30/11/2018 in the first instance.

The successful candidate must hold MSc degree, demonstrate experience in molecular cloning, tissue culture, viral vector generation and purification; experience in multi-parametric flow cytometry, good aptitude for team-working and precise note keeping are also essential criteria.
