This research project has been funded by Innovate UK to collaborate with our industrial and clinical partners in the development of prototype devices for the reduction of dental drill noise for patients.
We are seeking a post-doctoral design engineer to conduct testing of an industrial prototype Active Noise Control device. This will involve understanding its functional relationships with performance and compare this with the research concept performance. Model-based design experiments will be employed to understand the effects of hardware features and software algorithm design parameters on device performance under changing ambient conditions, drill proximity/loading and ear fit.
You must have a PhD in Design Engineering and a first degree (or equivalent experience and/or qualifications) in Mechanical Engineering.
You should have a demonstrable experience of working on industrial projects and a strong publication track record. You will also have excellent presentation, communication and team working skills, as they are fundamental for the success of this project. You will also have the proven ability to work towards project deadlines.
The post holder will work closely with Prof. Mark Atherton, Reader and our industrial and clinical collaborators.
Closing date for applications: 1 October 2017.
Interviews will be held on 9 October 2017.
