This BHF funded post is available from 15 October 2017 to 14 October 2018 to support the work of Dr Sebastian Oltean.

The post
The successful applicant will work on a project related to microcirculation and vascular endothelial growth factors. In a recent screen, we have identified 9 compounds that regulate VEGF alternative splicing and have anti-angiogenic activity. This project will involve further characterization of the mechanism of action of these compounds.
The post will include performing experiments mostly with basic molecular and cellular techniques, intracellular signalling and animal work (optional). Critical data analysis and presenting data at scientific forums also required.
About you
The successful applicant will be able to present information on research progress and outcomes, communicate complex information, orally, in writing and electronically and prepare proposals and applications to external bodies.
Applicants will possess a relevant PhD or possess an equivalent qualification/experience in a related field of study and be able to demonstrate sufficient knowledge in the discipline and of research methods and techniques to work within established research programmes. Applicants will be able to work with basic molecular and cellular techniques. Previous experience with cell signalling and animal work is desirable. Knowledge of molecular biology is essential; RNA biology and alternative splicing are desirable.
