This is an exciting time to consider a Senior Leadership role as Dean of School here at Edinburgh Napier University. Aligning to our overarching Strategy 2020, we are looking for a passionate leader who will shape teaching, research, student experience and provide strategic direction for growth within our School of Engineering and the Built Environment.

As Dean of School, you will have the autonomy and responsibility to strategically drive change, design and implement your vision for the school in a supported, innovative nimble but fast-paced working environment.

The Role

As Dean of the School, you will have full autonomy to set the vision and strategy for the school. As a natural leader, you will be responsible for attracting, retaining and motivating your academic team, leading by example to promote our values and behaviours to inspire and drive outstanding performance and an excellent student experience. You will direct the school's portfolio, ensure that our educational programmes meet the necessary requirements to provide valuable improved learning for our students and with your commercial outlook, continue to drive the growth of our research funding and income.

Additionally, you will also be responsible for continuing to progress our vision of research led teaching and growth internationally. We are specifically proud to host the Institute for Sustainable Construction and the Transport Research Institute, two internationally leading institutes with a focus on research and we are looking to increase our publication output in relation to the research excellence framework.

Who We Are Looking For

With significant experience at senior leadership level, you will have a proven record of accomplishment delivering strategic change, driving income generation, growing academic reputation and building and leading high performing teams in a similar sized school. As creative as you are resilient, you should be a strong communicator that can drive cultural transformation, in addition, we also require you to have strong experience controlling, monitoring and adhering to financial budgets. With a technical background in engineering, our ideal candidate will have a professional membership, a postgraduate qualification within a relevant discipline and an academic research profile.
