Detail information about job Chair in Labour Economics. Terms and conditions vacancy

Salary range: Professorial, minimum £62,086 per annum

The Department of Economics is an independent part of the Lancaster University Management School (LUMS), which is the most research-intensive business school in the UK (REF 2014). With over 40 members of faculty from more than 15 countries, the Department has doubled in size over the last 10 years with our most recent senior hire being Professor Eyal Winter. It provides an international, collegial and dynamic research environment with a commitment to world-class academic excellence.

You should have already established an excellent track record in the field of Labour Economics (broadly defined to include education and health economics), including recent publications in internationally recognised journals, success in programme development and curriculum innovation, and experience of administrative duties. The Department has a long history of research in education and labour economics and, in recent years, has developed a strong presence in health economics in conjunction with the Department of Health Research. You will be expected to strengthen and complement the activities of the research group on Labour, Education and Health Economics and participate fully in the intellectual life of the Department, to maintain a high quality research agenda that reaches out to external networks of collaborators as well as contributing to research activity within the Department. This will include supervising PhD students, participating in externally funded collaborative research projects as well as seeking funding for one’s own projects.

Applications will be reviewed starting on 27 June 2017 until the position is filled. Appointment will start at a mutually agreed date.

Please submit a cover letter, a copy of your CV and the names of three referees.

Please direct informal enquiries to Professor Maurizio Zanardi ([email protected]), Head of the Economics Department, or to Professor Ian Walker ([email protected]), Chair of the Recruiting Committee.

We welcome applications from people in all diversity groups.
