We have an exciting opportunity for a Communications Officer and Academic Office Support reporting to the Head of Administration and Finance the postholder will cover the full range of communication media including website, intranet, and newsletter. The postholder will act as Editor-in-Chief, taking the lead on the continuing development of the website.

The postholder will be responsible for developing the Department’s communications in order to strengthen information-sharing, both internally and externally and to raise awareness of the Department’s strategic aims and its achievements.

In addition the postholder, as well as providing minimal support to the Head of Administration and Finance, will also provide administrative support to the Academic Office of the Head of Department in the absence of his Personal Assistant. These tasks will vary in nature and duration and will require a degree of flexibility and team spirit from the postholder.

We are looking for a self-starter who has previous experience in a communications role, excellent written and oral communication skills, demonstrated ability to carry out a range of communications activity, without the support of a team, experience of using new media in communications to deliver both web and content (both written and visual), deploying social media within an organisational context, and evaluating the impact of these communication methods.
