Detail information about job Research Assistant. Terms and conditions vacancy

Applications are invited for a Research Assistant to join the Cambridge Blood and Stem Cell Biobank (CBSB) and Cancer Molecular Diagnostic Laboratory (CMDL) at the Cambridge Biomedical Campus. CBSB and CMDL work closely with academic research groups and the regional Haemato-oncology Diagnostic Service and have begun a ground-breaking project establishing a state-of-the-art molecular diagnosis/personalised medicine hub for patients with haematological cancers.

We are seeking an individual to become a valued member of the research team. The post holder will have good organisational skills, a flexible approach to work when required and the ability to work independently as well as part of a team. The majority of the work will involve the processing and banking of cellular subsets from patients with haematological malignancies, including cell sorting, cell culture and molecular biology. Experience of these techniques would be an advantage but is not essential.

The role will combine laboratory work with supporting the database management and administration of the biobank. Experience and interest in genomic technologies in diagnostic medicine, managing data collection and large datasets; alongside supporting service users would be an advantage.

The successful applicant should have a degree (or equivalent) in an appropriate biological subject or substantial basic laboratory experience.
