It’s not just the benefits that are great at Birmingham City University, we are a great place to work too! We have invested £260 million in our new city centre offices, offering a modern working environment with the latest cutting edge technology.

The Higher Education sector faces big challenges, but here at Birmingham City University we see these as big opportunities. Our strategic plan is ambitious; we are transforming the University, students, our practices and the region we operate in. We therefore need a creative and professional workforce. There has never been a better time to join the University; the scope for change is vast and the opportunity to play a role in our transformation is there for the taking!

We are looking to recruit two Administrative Assistants currently aligned within the Arts, Design and Media Faculty to support the work of its Administrators and Senior Officers. Do you have solid experience in customer service and in an administrative role, excellent organisational skills, and an eye for detail? One post is a full time post (37 hours per week) with another role available on a part time basis (18.5 hours per week) within the Faculty. Please state clearly on your application which post you are interested in.

Our aim as a department is to provide high quality, expert professional administrative services to enhance the student experience, to support academic staff and to work effectively alongside other professional services functions. We need Administrative Support including processing documentation, arranging meetings, liaising with staff and students face to face and also by email and telephone, and monitoring systems and deadlines. Applicants must be able to work accurately, efficiently and to fixed timescales. The ability to manage their own workload, whilst providing dependable support to the wider team, is key.

You will also need excellent written and oral communication skills, and proficiency with MS Office.

As a University, we have many strengths; amongst staff and students there is a sense of common purpose and commitment to the nature of higher education we offer. This is a fantastic opportunity to further improve our service and ensure practices are leading within our field.

Please upload a CV and covering letter as part of your application for this role. You are advised, where possible, to remove personal details from your CV and covering letter including your name.
