Consistently rated amongst the world's best universities, Imperial College London is a science-based institution with a reputation for excellence in teaching and research. Imperial’s Institute of Global Health Innovation (IGHI) is at the forefront of the improving healthcare through evidence-based innovation.  Led by Professor Darzi since 2010, IGHI comprises a multidisciplinary team focusing on the co-creation and diffusion of healthcare innovation to tackle some of the most pressing global challenges facing today’s society. The Global Health and Development Group (GHD) at IGHI generates research and provides advice to countries and governments, supporting them to make better decisions about how to get the most from every dollar they spend on healthcare and thereby contributing to better health around the world.

ROAD2H (Resource Optimisation, Argumentation, Decision Support and Knowledge Transfer to Create Value via Learning Health Systems) is an innovative project funded by the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC). The project aims to develop novel, interdisciplinary ‘learning health system’ methods and tools – integrating argumentation and optimisation, machine learning, big data, eHealth and informatics, evidence-based clinical decision support systems, and health economic modelling – to facilitate uptake of cost-effective health interventions in low- and middle-income countries, with the end goal of helping them achieve universal health coverage (UHC).

The post holder will be a key member of the ROAD2H project team and the GHD team. The post holder will be required to lead on the analysis of international health systems, policies and data, and on communicating the results effectively to interdisciplinary audiences within the UK and internationally, including computer scientists, clinicians, as well as foreign policymakers and global donors. The successful candidate will be expected to support senior GHD staff in developing strategies, policies and initiatives relating to our research and policy advice work with national governments, insurance agencies and donors around the world.

The post holder core skills will be in the development of clinical guidelines, quality standards and indicators, clinical audit and/or implementation of guidance, health policy, or applied health economics. In addition, the post holder will be an enthusiastic analyst with a relevant postgraduate qualification or equivalent experience in public health, health economics, social science, health service research, or health informatics.

This position is available for a fixed term of one year in the first instance and will require regular long haul travel (up to approximately 8-10 times per year).

Closing Date: 01 October 2017 (Midnight BST)
