Overview:The Griffith School of Engineering has been providing tertiary qualifications to the Engineering profession for over two decades and is known for its innovative and student focussed teaching approaches and its strong industry relationships. There has been a rapid growth in student numbers since 2007 and we now teach over 2000 students at both undergraduate and postgraduate programs across multiple campuses in several disciplines, including Civil, Mechanical, Electrical and Electronic, Environmental Engineering and Industrial Design.

This is a full time, fixed term appointment for three years as Head of Discipline, with a substantive continuing (tentured) position as Professor, Level E. This position will be based at the Gold Coast campus.

The role:Reporting to the Head of School, you will provide scholarly leadership by fostering excellence in research and teaching within the Mechanical Engineering discipline.  You will predominantly focus on the development of the discipline by building an international reputation in research and achieving excellence in learning and teaching and curriculum development. In addition, you will lead professional engagement with industry and the wider community.

The person:To be successful in this role you will have a relevant PhD with significant experience in teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate levels and demonstrated international standing through high quality research as evidenced by sustained publications in leading international journals and successful grant applications. You will be a visionary leader with an enthusiastic approach and outstanding interpersonal and communication skills.

The successful candidate may well have a role in leadership in research within the ADaM Research Institute and its forerunner 3D printing and design facility. Research interests in materials engineering, advanced manufacture and design, or mechanics of materials/FEA would be highly valued.

Salary range:A salary package that includes a base salary of $172,326 per annum with an employer superannuation contribution of 17% of base salary will be offered. Attractive salary packaging arrangements are also available.
