Detail information about job Postdoctoral Research Officer - The Oxford Martin Programme on Technological and Economic Change. Terms and conditions vacancy

This is a re-advertisement of vacancy 128662. Previous applicants need not reapply

New technologies have the potential to fundamentally disrupt economic growth, investment, savings, consumption, employment, incomes, pensions, careers and productivity. Yet our understanding of what this will mean for the global economy, and how it will impact on markets, cities and societies is, at best, limited. This new programme, based at the Oxford Martin School, Broad Street, Oxford, aims to identify the key technological disruptors and consider their impact on the global economy and society.

If you have a PhD/DPhil in a relevant area and can demonstrate specialist expertise in economics to benefit the research programme, excellent communication skills, experience of using and adapting methodologies, and have a strong interest in science and technology developments, collaborative and interdisciplinary research work, and future trends, The Oxford Martin Programme on Technological and Economic Change is for you.

As a Postdoctoral Research Officer, you will not only manage your own research but also contribute to the management and coordination of research activities across the programme, taking responsibility for part of the project. As a member of the team, you will work with Professor Ian Goldin to: contribute ideas for new research projects, work independently to identify ways in which disruptive technologies are likely to impact on economies and societies, provide original insights into the impact of new technologies on economies, reviewing and refining theories as appropriate, and gather, analyse and present qualitative and/or quantitative data from a variety of sources.

The post is fixed-term for 2 years and it is hoped that the successful applicant will start work as soon as possible.

The closing date for applications is 12.00 noon on Friday 6 October 2017.
