Job overview:

We are seeking to appoint a Building Environment Technician to provide Workshop support and technical demonstration and instruction to students in our specialist Laboratories, Workshops and Studios. The post is part of the Faculty Technical Support Service which is comprised of more than 35 staff providing a wide range of integrated technical support and assistance to students and staff in the five departments in the Faculty.

The role is closely associated with the Architecture, Construction and Civil Engineering disciplines and will support laboratory and practical activities. You will provide technical support and demonstration and instruction in a laboratory environment to undergraduate students associated with their programmes of study in the Environmental Physics Laboratory. You must be aware of the Health and Safety requirements associated with supporting users in a laboratory and workshop environment. 

You will have experience of working in a technical environment in Higher Education and/or have broad based commercial or industrial experience working in a similar or relevant environment. 

You must be able to communicate clearly and manage your own time well in a busy environment. You should have a committed, proactive and innovative approach to the learning environment and you should have good be IT skills. 

A degree, technical qualification or equivalent experience in a relevant discipline will be required.
