The successful candidate will work on a Wellcome ISSF-funded project on the control of HIV replication in by the newly described cellular antiviral protein REAF (RPRD2). The proposed work will require the use of a broad range of techniques (molecular and cellular biology, virology/microbiology, and immunology) investigating the protein-protein and protein-nucleic acid interactions that underpin restriction of HIV by REAF and any viral countermeasures to it. The successful candidate will be part of a newly formed research group led by Dr Richard Sloan working on understanding how cell intrinsic innate immunity can control HIV infection.
Degree in a relevant field such as Microbiology, Immunology, Molecular Biology. Masters degree is desirable.
The post is available on a fixed term basis for 12 months.
