Overview:The Queensland College of Art (QCA) is one of Australia's foremost Art, Design and Film colleges. The College has over 2200 students enrolled in undergraduate and postgraduate programs. As a comprehensive Design, Art and Film College, QCA offers a rich selection of forward-looking creative programs with a focus on effectively positioning its graduates and researchers as world-class creative-thinkers and practitioners within a fast-changing, globally connected landscape.

This is a fixed term (three years), full time position as Discipline Head of Design, with a substantive continuing position as Professor or Associate Professor within the Queensland College of Art. This position will be based at the South Bank and Gold Coast campuses.

The role:The position of Head of Design involves leadership of QCA's undergraduate and postgraduate Design programs and the opportunity to build on QCA's reputation for progressive teaching and research. This role will have a key focus working towards the academic planning and delivery of Design-related programs and contributing to the overall strategic development of the College.

The person:The successful appointee will be capable of leading an energetic group of design practitioners and researchers, developing world-class innovative approaches to design education, and fostering cutting-edge research that engages a wide spectrum of design enquiry and industry association. The successful applicant will be a key member of QCA's Executive Team, working closely with QCA's Director, and actively contributing to the development of one of Australia's leading art, design and film colleges.

As the successful appointee, you will be able to demonstrate advanced knowledge in a specific area(s) of Design evidenced through research achievement including substantial creative and/or scholarly publication/exhibition record in Design. A national and ideally international reputation as an academic leader in Design. You will have extensive experience in strategic leadership, development, and effective running of notable design programs.

Salary range:An attractive salary package will be offered to the successful appointee.
