The Oxford Brookes Nutrition programmes are well established and well regarded pre-qualifying professional programmes at both undergraduate and postgraduate level. We have a strong research focus and support multiple home and International PhD and placement students. Nutritional research takes place through the Oxford Brookes Centre for Nutrition and Health (formally the Functional Food Centre) and also through the Oxford Institute of Nursing, Midwifery and Allied Health Research (OxINMAHR) and Centre for Movement, Occupation and Rehabilitation Research (MORes).
We are looking to appoint a dynamic individual to provide successful leadership of our Nutrition programmes, focussed on high student achievement and high levels of student satisfaction. We want an individual who can lead programmes in their implementation of the University strategy for enhancing the student experience, including the enrichment of teaching and learning by research. We require an inspirational researcher who will be able to drive research and commercial activity within the department and support staff development. The successful candidate will be expected to work closely with the Head of Department, the Research Lead for the Department, Faculty Associate Deans and students.
Key responsibilities:
- Academic leadership of the Nutrition Programmes working closely with the Head of Department, Research Lead, Associate Dean Student Experience and the Associate Dean, Strategy and Development to align the work of the cluster with Faculty and University objectives. Part of the management group of the Department of Sport, health Sciences and Social Work
- Provide successful leadership of academic colleagues to deliver programmes with high student achievement and high levels of student satisfaction
- Engage with internal and external stakeholders to develop and lead new opportunities to grow and extend the current programmes in the cluster
- Monitor and actively enhance the quality of academic performance, taking account of AfN requirements, sectoral trends, stakeholder perspectives, NQT survey results, NSS results, the work of the HEA and the criteria established through the Teaching and Research Excellence Framework
- To liaise as necessary with External Examiners and participate in QA activities, including validations, periodic reviews and accreditation activities with professional bodies.
Qualifications and experience:
- Higher degree in relevant discipline
- Professional qualification in Nutrition and registration with the AfN
- The ability to build collaborative internal and external relationships
- Excellent communication skills
- Experience of successful leadership.
