Job PurposeThis is a great opportunity to play a pivotal role in enriching the social science of global health research at the University of Glasgow. The post-holder will be based in School of Social & Political Sciences and also be a member of the interdisciplinary Institute of Health & Wellbeing. You will be supported to build interdisciplinary relationships across the University and to lead, and contribute to, research to improve health globally.

We welcome applicants at either the Lecturer or Senior Lecturer level able to contribute to research and teaching in relation to any of aspect of the One Health agenda, including prevention and management of NCDs in low and middle-income countries; end-of-life care; policies and programmes to understand and reduce inequality in health; and wellbeing, health and migration. We also welcome applicants excited by the potential of interdisciplinary and solution-focused research and able to bring strong social science perspectives to health research with engineers, ecologists, epidemiologists, vets, doctors, arts practitioners and researchers and historians.

The successful candidate will provide academic leadership by undertaking research of international excellence in line with the School/College’s research strategy, making a substantial contribution to teaching at both undergraduate and postgraduate level and undertaking School, College and, where appropriate, University leadership, management and administrative responsibilities.

The salary will be on the Research and Teaching Grade, level 7/8/9, £33,943 - £38,183/ £41,709 - £48,327 / £49,772 - £55,998 per annum.

The successful applicant will be eligible to join the Universities' Superannuation Scheme. Further information regarding the scheme is available from the Superannuation Officer, who is also prepared to advise on questions relating to the transfer of Superannuation benefits.

All research and related activities, including grants, donations, clinical trials, contract research, consultancy and commercialisation are required to be managed through the University's relevant processes (e.g. contractual and financial), in accordance with the University Court's policies.
