Applications are invited for the post of Research Assistant in Crop Science in the UCD School of Agriculture and Food Science. The appointee will be responsible for contributing to a project on fungal wheat pathogens funded as part of the DAFM funded Virtual Irish Centre for Crop Improvement (VICCI). The research will investigate wheat susceptibility to the fungal pathogen Zymoseptoria tritici using molecular approaches. Z. tritici causes one of the most devastating fungal diseases of wheat in Europe.
Duties will be as laid down by the Head of School or his/her nominee and shall include the provision of research support. The primary duties and responsibilities will involve molecular plant pathology.
The successful candidate will:
- Provide highly skilled laboratory research support in Plant Pathology.
- Work together with graduate students and post-doctoral fellows as part of a project team.
- Assist in data collection and interpretation and the preparation of scientific articles for peer review.
Salary: €21,157 per annum
Appointment on the above range will be dependent on qualifications and experience.
