These two permanent full-time posts with the Centre for Research in Ageing and Cognitive Health (REACH) consist of a post-doctoral research fellowship progressing to a full-time permanent lectureship in dementia research (subject to satisfactory performance and compliance with visa regulations, where applicable). These posts offer an unparalleled career development opportunity for early-career researchers with a focus on psychological, social or applied health research in dementia. The posts are designed to enable the post-holders to develop their research skills and equip them to develop an independent research programme, prior to moving into a full lecturer role. During years 1 – 3 the focus will be on research conducted as part of our Alzheimer’s Society Centre of Excellence, During years 4 – 5 while continuing this research focus the post-holders will be supported to begin the transition into the lecturer role. After 5 years the post-holders will move into the full Lecturer role in the School of Psychology.
During the first 5 years in post, as part of our Alzheimer’s Society Centre of Excellence the post-holders will be key members of the IDEAL-2 cohort study team, and each post-holder will play a lead role in one of two planned workstreams. This role will lead on:
- Co-production and personalisation of measures of ‘living well’ with dementia

The post-holders will have:
- A PhD directly relevant to psychological, social and applied health research in dementia
- The potential to develop an independent, internationally-recognised research programme in this area
- A record of attracting funding for research, or the potential to attract such funding
- An enthusiasm for inter-disciplinary and multi-disciplinary research and for working with community partners
- A recognition of the importance of involving people with dementia, carers and the wider public in research
- An understanding of the need for research to have a positive impact on the lives of people affected by dementia
- Enthusiasm for delivering high quality undergraduate programmes in psychology
