The Centre for Public Engagement (CPE) at QMUL sits within the Office of the Principal, and is a small, agile unit working on the ground with academics, professional staff and students from across QMUL to offer practical advice and guidance for their public engagement work. The CPE is well known internally and externally, and is considered exemplary for the support it offers by funders such as RCUK and the Wellcome Trust.
The Public Engagement Officer will report to, and work alongside the Public Engagement Manager to support the day-to-day running of the CPE, with particular focus on managing the CPE’s communication channels, administering the Small Awards grants scheme, and project managing delivery of the annual Engagement and Enterprise Awards. This position works with the CPE team to support staff and students across the institution to maximise their public engagement and contributing towards QMUL’s strategic goals, particularly Objective 5 “to achieve maximum impact from our academic work through public engagement and partnerships with businesses, government, charities, cultural organisations, and others in the wider community”.
The post is full time (35 hours per week), permanent appointment. Starting salary will be in the range of £26,270 - £32,405 per annum, inclusive of London Allowance. Benefits include 30 days annual leave, defined benefit pension scheme and interest-free season ticket loan.
Candidates must be able to demonstrate their eligibility to work in the UK in accordance with the Immigration, Asylum and Nationality Act 2006. Where required this may include entry clearance or continued leave to remain under the Points Based Immigration Scheme.
