Detail information about job Research Assistant/Associate. Terms and conditions vacancy

Applications are invited for a research associate position funded by Bloodwise UK, starting from September 2017.

The successful candidates will join Professor Ming-Qing Du's research group based on the Cambridge Biomedical Campus within Addenbrooke's Hospital and investigate the genetic bases and molecular mechanism of aggressive B-cell lymphoma using state-of-art of technologies including high throughput targeted sequencing. Our research aims to identify biomarkers that are capable of stratifying patients for different treatments based on their molecular mechanisms. The post offers excellent opportunity in translational research and precision medicine. Applicants should have a PhD or expect to obtain one shortly and a strong background in cancer genetics or related disciplines. Relevant experience in molecular pathology and/or high throughput sequence analyses is an advantage. The post-holder should be highly motivated, and have the ability to plan and conduct high quality experimental work within a multidisciplinary team.

Where the successful applicant does not yet have a PhD, he/she will normally be under-appointed as a Research Assistant in a Research Associate post (on the understanding that he/she will be appointed as a Research Associate upon successful completion of his/her PhD). The higher Research Associate salary should be backdated to the submission date of their thesis.

The general duties/responsibilities of this post include developing and driving research objectives, writing up work for presentation and publication, assisting in the supervision of student research projects, and delivering seminars and occasional lectures are outlined in the Further Information Documents.

Fixed-term: The funds for this post are available until 31 October 2019 in the first instance.

Once an offer of employment has been accepted, the successful candidate will be required to undergo a health assessment.
