Job DescriptionThe European Molecular Biology Laboratory (EMBL) is one of the highest ranked scientific research organisations in the world. The Headquarters Laboratory is located in Heidelberg (Germany), with additional sites in Grenoble (France), Hamburg (Germany), Hinxton near Cambridge (UK), Rome (Italy) and Barcelona (Spain). We are looking for a highly talented postdoctoral researcher to join the newly established group of Jan Kosinski at EMBL Hamburg and the Centre for Structural Systems Biology (CSSB). The group investigates infection cycles and host-pathogen interactions using computational and experimental approaches. The successful candidate will work in the area of integrative structural modeling of molecular complexes and cellular landscapes based on data from electron microscopy, cryo-electron tomography, crosslinking and other experimental techniques. The projects will include development of new modeling methods and application to biological systems studied in-house and in collaboration.
Qualifications and ExperienceA Ph.D. in computational biology, bioinformatics, or related disciplines is required. Prior expertise in structure analysis and structural modeling and programming skills are expected. Experience in protein-protein docking, optimization methods, Bayesian inference, and modeling based on experimental restraints is considered an advantage. Experience in analyzing data from electron microscopy, in particular, cryo-electron tomography is welcome.
