The School of Chemistry aspires to be the best chemistry department in the UK and the most collaborative and interconnected School in the University of Bristol.  The School was ranked 4th (GPA and Research Power) in REF 2014, currently has six Fellows of the Royal Society (five more amongst the Emeritus Professors), nine holders of Royal Society of Wolfson Research Merit Awards and eight staff currently hold (or have just finished holding) ERC Advanced Investigator Awards.  In terms of research, the School identifies five research themes, namely Catalysis and Synthesis, Chemical and Synthetic Biology, Computational Chemistry, Theory and Dynamics, Energy and Environment, and Functional Molecules and Materials which define existing activities and provide a focus for new research directions and interactions.  The School leads one EPSRC CDT and is a partner in six others and also recruits from a GW4 wide BBSRC and NERC DTPs.  In addition to the undergraduate programmes mentioned above, the School also hosts the Bristol ChemLabS Centre for Excellence in Teaching and Learning associated with undergraduate laboratory teaching and the award-winning (THE Outstanding ICT Initiative of the Year 2010) Dynamic Laboratory Manual.

With a population of over 400,000, Bristol is the largest city in the South West and the region’s leading centre for business, culture and education.  Bristol was named the best city to live in by the Sunday Times in their ‘Best Places to Live Guide 2017’.

The closing date for applications is Sunday 17 September 2017 at midnight.

The interview process will take place over two days on 2 and 3 November 2017.
