A position exists for a Research Assistant/Associate in the Department of Engineering, to work on Functional Ink Formulation.

The post holder will be located in West Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, UK.

Key responsibilities and duties: development and formulation of nanomaterial-based ink systems, in particular, for large scale printing processes. The role holder will carry out formulation of graphene and graphene-metal oxide based inks for commercial scale printing processes. A good level of understanding of the flexible and printable electronics field and data analysis will also be required. The project will be in collaboration with several industrial and academic partners in the UK and China. Good scientific communication and report writing skills will be essential. The role holder will work in the Hybrid Nanomaterials Engineering group at the Graphene Centre, under the supervision of the Principal Investigator, Dr Tawfique Hasan.

Applicants must have (or be close to obtaining) a PhD in Electrical/Electronic Engineering or Materials Science. To perform the role, the applicants are required to have skills and experience in printing technologies and applications, conducting and semiconducting nanomaterial ink formulation, commercial scale printing, resistive type gas sensor design and fabrication, as well as hands on fabrication experience of microelectronic structures. The applicant must be able to work independently, with excellent organization, communication, and time-management skills.

Salary Ranges: Research Assistant: £25,298 - £30,175; Research Associate: £30,175 - £38,183.

Fixed-term: The funds for this post are available for 14 months in the first instance.
