A position exists for a Research Assistant/Associate in the Department of Engineering, to work on electronic sensor design for particle monitoring.

The post holder will be located in West Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, UK.

Key responsibilities and duties: PCB layout design and fabrication, as well as develop frontend electronics and microcontroller systems for capacitive type sensors. A good level of electronics testing and data analysis will also be required. The project will be in collaboration with several industrial and academic partners in UK and China. Good scientific communication skills will be essential. The role holder will work closely with the Hybrid Nanomaterials Engineering group at the Graphene Centre, and under the supervision of the Co-I of the project, Dr Luigi Occhipinti.

Applicants must have (or be close to obtaining) a PhD in Electrical/Electronic Engineering. To perform the role, the applicants are required to have skills and experience in electronic sensor design and applications, PCB layout and fabrication, microcontroller based system design and program, as well as knowledge in printed and flexible electronics. The applicant must be able to work independently, with excellent organization, communication, and time-management skills.

Salary Ranges: Research Assistant: £25,298 - £30,175; Research Associate: £30,175 - £38,183.

Fixed-term: The funds for this post are available for 10 months in the first instance.
