The Oxford Internet Institute is a leading centre for research into individual, collective and institutional behaviour on the Internet. Applications are invited from highly-qualified individuals for the position of Researcher focusing on computer and data science for the BOTFIND/COMPROP team. The position is suited to candidates who have recently completed a doctorate, or are near completion, in a relevant field (postdocs). The position requires someone with extensive skills in computational social science and an interest in political communication and politics. The primary task will be to build tools for detecting politically motivated, highly automated content production on social media platforms. 

The researcher will be at the centre of an extended international network of social and computer scientists working on algorithms and social control and there will be significant opportunity to collaborate with the OII’s other data scientists, researchers, and graduate students.

The position is available immediately for a fixed-term of 18 months, with possibility of renewal thereafter, for up to 36 months. The position is located in Oxford, the candidate is expected to move to Oxford to take up the position, though depending on the assignment there may be significant periods of international fieldwork involved. Travel costs for fieldwork are covered by the project.
