Detail information about job University Lectureship / University Senior Lectureship in Parasitology. Terms and conditions vacancy

University Lectureship £39,324 - £49,772 / University Senior Lectureship in Parasitology £52,793 - £55,998.

The University of Cambridge wishes to appoint a University Lecturer (UL) or University Senior Lecturer (USL) in Parasitology within the Department of Pathology. The post is available from 1 October 2017 and aims to strengthen the Department's research and teaching in parasitology. Applications from individuals with a research interest in molecular and cellular parasitology are particularly encouraged.

The Department wishes to recruit an individual who will develop a research program in molecular parasitology that is likely to attract ongoing grant funding and will complement existing interests in microbiology and parasitology within the Department (http://www.path.cam.ac.uk/directory/mp-div) with potential for interactions with other biomedical research groups in Cambridge.

Applicants for appointment are expected to demonstrate excellence in research, and have a good publication record, proportionate to their length of research experience. A commitment to the supervision and teaching of undergraduate and graduate students as well as skills in research leadership are essential.  A USL candidate will be an experienced academic, skilled in giving lectures and seminars to undergraduate and graduate students, and have experience of developing teaching material by introducing innovative approaches or developing and shaping course structure(s).

The post is established within the Department of Pathology (Head of Department, Professor Geoffrey L Smith FRS). The successful candidate is expected to foster their subject through research, supported by external grant funding, leading to publications in respected international journals. In addition, the successful candidate is expected to make a general contribution to the academic work of the Department, and the University, including course development and teaching in those courses for which the Department of Pathology is responsible.  For the USL post, this must be at a level commensurate with an experienced and research-active academic.

Please ensure that you upload a covering letter, your curriculum vitae (CV), a list of publications, and a one page statement of research interests and future plans, as well as the names and addresses of three referees in the 'Upload' section of the online application. If you upload any additional documents which have not been requested, we will not be able to consider these as part of your application.

The deadline for applications is 11 September 2017. We aim to hold interviews in late September 2017.

Once an offer of employment has been accepted, the successful candidate will be required to undergo a health assessment.
