Applications are invited for an enthusiastic and imaginative Senior Gateway Adviser to work in our busy Library & Student Services department that provides support for students and staff on the Farnham campus.

The post provides first line help for students and staff in gaining access to a range of support services as well as locating and using the library resources, facilities, equipment and technology.

You should have experience of working in a customer service environment, preferably a busy academic library or support services environment. Effective interpersonal and communication skills, excellent customer service skills and experience of supervising staff are essential. You should also have experience of automated library systems and be a competent and confident IT user. Knowledge of online information would be an advantage.

We are looking for someone who will be prepared to accept responsibility, to respond effectively under pressure, to demonstrate initiative and flexibility and to liaise effectively with staff, students, colleagues and external suppliers. Equally important are the ability to work as part of a team, initiative, flexibility and attention to detail. Being prepared to use new skills and undertake staff development as appropriate, especially in the area of new technology are essential. A First Aid qualification (or the willingness to be trained as a First Aider) would be desirable.

Hours of work are 7.25 hours per day, five days per week, Monday to Friday.
