The project is a collaboration between 3 UK institutions: Plymouth Marine Laboratories (PML, lead), the University of Exeter and the University of Plymouth; and several institutions and non-governmental bodies across South East Asia including in Malaysia, Indonesia, Vietnam, the Philippines and China.

You will apply social and behavioural research methods to a) co-create instruments and methods to elicit perceptions and behaviour patterns from coastal communities, implement these tools, analyse data and write up results, and b) support training programmes to increase capacity in psychological, social and behavioural research and analysis skills among our partner organisations in South East Asia. You will work primarily with Dr Sabine Pahl (School of Psychology, University of Plymouth) but will be tightly integrated with the rest of the team.

The overall project team is multi-disciplinary, including evidence synthesis, psychology, epidemiology, health geography, marine sciences and environmental/health economics, and is based in the cities of Plymouth, Penryn and Truro in the Southwest of England. You will be expected to collaborate extensively with other colleagues in Plymouth Marine Laboratories, the Universities of Plymouth and Exeter as well as our international partners in South East Asia. The post will involve travel to all collaborating countries for research as well as training programme delivery.
