Detail information about job Postdoctoral Research Associate in the Role of PARPs in DNA Repair and Genome Stability. Terms and conditions vacancy

We are seeking to appoint a Postdoctoral Research Associate to join the research groups of Nick Lakin and Catherine Pears at the Department of Biochemistry, University of Oxford. Our labs aim to understand the molecular basis of DNA repair, with specific reference to how PARPs and ADP-ribosylation regulate this process. The Research Associate will join a multi-disciplinary team to work on a project that will define how PARPs regulate DNA repair and genome stability through ADP-ribosylation of histone proteins.

Applicants will have, or be in the process of completing a PhD relevant to molecular and cellular biology, and should have a proven record of accomplishment in gene manipulation strategies that either a) address a fundamental biological question in Dictyostelium, and/or b) further our understanding of how DNA repair mechanisms function in humans or a eukaryotic model organism. You should also have experience in core molecular and cellular biology techniques in eukaryotic cells, such as protein manipulation and expression, in addition to biochemical/cell biology expertise to assess their function in vivo. We expect the Research Associate to possess strong communication skills, including a proven ability to write publications and present data to the scientific community. You should also have an enthusiasm for working in a laboratory environment and a pro-active determination to drive forward an important research project.

This full-time, fixed-term post is funded by the Medical Research Council for up to three years in the first instance.

Further particulars, including details of how to apply, can be obtained from the document below.

The closing date for applications is 12.00 noon on Wednesday 6 September 2017, with interviews for shortlisted candidates to be held as soon as possible thereafter.
