The UCL Cancer Institute is a £40 million investment in central London based at University College London (UCL), one of the world’s top universities and a founding member of the Crick Institute. UCL Cancer Institute draws together over 300 scientists working together to develop world-class basic and translational cancer research.
We are looking for a talented and enthusiastic Research Technician to join the Cell Communication lab at the UCL Cancer Institute. The successful applicant will aid the development of biomimetic organoid models to study colorectal cancer (CRC). These models will combine epithelial, stromal, and immune cells to recapitulate the CRC microenvironment in 3D.
Duties and responsibilities of the post holder include but are not limited to: planning, performing, analysing and interpreting experiments under the direction of the grant holder, Dr. Chris Tape, with the aim of creating research tools and of furthering knowledge related to the research project; performing experiments to understand cell signaling using advanced 3D organoid co-cultures; making figures for internal and external presentations, drafting manuscripts for publication. The Research Technician will also support the Cell Communication lab by ordering and general laboratory management.
The post is funded by UCL Hospital Biomedical Research Centre (BRC) for a period of 36 months in the first instance.
The successful candidate is expected to demonstrate experience in culturing primary fibroblasts, leukocytes, and 3D organoids will be advantageous. Familiarity with CRISPR genome engineering will also be beneficial.
