A rare opportunity has arisen for a Financial Accountant role at Lancaster University. This is an exceptional opportunity to work for Lancaster University, ranked in the UK Top 10 and one of the top universities in the world. The University is based just outside the beautiful city of Lancaster ideally located near to the Lake District.
As Financial Accountant you will be responsible for a technically based portfolio of financial accounting services, including international tax compliance, treasury management and operational process improvement. You will provide high level support for statutory accounts preparation in accordance with the Higher Education Statement of Recommended Practice including the preparation of consolidated balance sheets, statement of cashflows and supporting notes to the accounts. The role will require close liaison with our tax advisors and external auditors.
Amongst other duties, you will also be responsible for the completion of annual financial returns to the Higher Education Statistics Agency and you will provide financial accounting support for the University’s own and endowment investment portfolios.
Working closely with the Deputy Director of Finance and other senior finance colleagues, your work will support and contribute to the long-term strategic financial plan and overall strategy of the university.
You must be a fully qualified accountant with experience and achievement in a technical financial role, ideally within a large complex organisation. As a strong team player and excellent communicator, you will develop and maintain effective collaborative relationships within the University and externally.
