Are you interested in working for a world-leading school of urban studies and planning at a global top 100 university? We have an exciting opportunity in the Department of Urban Studies and Planning for someone with a real passion for research and teaching about cities, their development, and the challenges they face. You will join one of the top centres for urban studies worldwide. We recently celebrated our 50th anniversary, and over that time have developed widely-recognised and diverse strengths across urban studies, as well as continuing and developing our reputation for excellence in the field of urban planning.
We welcome applications from candidates who are able to deliver excellent research and teaching across urban studies and planning, and are particularly interested in candidates who can lead and develop teaching in the area of urban or spatial planning.
We are looking for someone who:
- Is educated to PhD (or equivalent) level in a relevant subject area. You will have an excellent research trajectory, which will complement and enhance the strengths of the Department (in areas such as planning; real estate; housing; local economic development; urban design; governance; and participation).
- Has excellent research and writing skills, producing high quality academic publications and securing research grant income
- Shows an ability to provide inspiring teaching. We pride ourselves on the quality of teaching within the Department, and are recognised as one of the main centres for education in urban studies and planning in the UK.
- Demonstrates an ambition to lead. We are committed to excellence in leadership, and your ambition to take on leadership and administrative roles would contribute to the collective enhancement of the Department.
As a top-ranked school of urban studies, we encourage and support our colleagues to undertake research and teaching that has an international impact. You would be able to access funding for international travel and conferences, and support to enable your research ideas and projects to have a global reach. You will be joining a vibrant, diverse and growing community of researchers and teachers, and will help to contribute to our collective mission to be the leading urban studies and planning school globally.
