An Economic Development Project Co-ordinator (Business Innovation Team Support) is required within the Economy, Enterprise & Skills Service at Devon County Council, seconded from the University of Exeter. This is an exciting opportunity to get involved in developing support for the economy across Devon. This role is for 6 months starting asap, and is part of the Graduate Business Partnership Scheme.

Main duties will include supporting the development of projects and effective working partnerships with public and private sector organisations to deliver key priorities outlined in the County Council’s Strategic Plan, the Strategy for Growth, and the externally funded programmes for which DCC is accountable.  The post holder will also provide support for specific projects either directly or through partners to develop the County’s identified priorities, with a specific focus on managing project partners, consultants and budgets, together with supporting team members to work in partnership with colleagues and organisations to aid project development and continuous improvement, which will include hosting networking events and presentations.

In particular project support will be required for promotion, including monitoring and updating the BSI social media feeds, and supporting the BSI and TS teams on the commercialisation of some of our business support activities. The post holder will also work with business support providers to ensure Devon businesses get access to high quality help and support to enable them to expand and grow whilst providing administrative support for the special interest group. This involves organising meetings, liaising with members, minute taking and coordinating actions where appropriate.

We are looking for hard working graduates, with an excellent and broad range of communication skills, who are able to demonstrate creative and innovative thinking, and can successfully implement creative and innovative solutions. Applicants should also have good presentation skills, have excellent IT skills, in particular familiarity with Microsoft software packages, and the ability to multi-task and prioritise workloads, including resolving conflicting priorities. In addition to this applicants should also have the ability to travel around the county, some knowledge of website design and development and e-commerce opportunities and a good working knowledge of social media. Interviews will be held on 2/3 October 2017.
