Salary: £32,380 - £34,040 per annum (Research Assistant

             £36,800 - £44,220 per annum (Research Associate)

This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated and proactive researcher with experience of working in healthcare to join a creative multidisciplinary team and design, deliver and research a range of simulation-based projects as part of the St Mary’s Patient Experience Hub.

The Hub is a collaboration between the Imperial College Centre for Engagement and Simulation Science (ICCESS), Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust and Imperial Healthcare Charity.  The overarching aim of the Hub is to use simulation to improve the experience of patients and their families at St Mary’s Hospital, London.

A key part of the role will involve the use of ‘Sequential Simulation’ (SqS) to re-enact elements (e.g. admission, intervention, discharge) of a patient’s journey. This innovative use of physical simulation, pioneered by our research group, allows clinicians, patients, families, managers and others to experience parts of the patient’s journey not normally accessible. The aim is to identify challenges and develop potential improvements through collaboration.

The post holder will work in partnership with the project team and Children’s Services team at St Mary’s Hospital to co-design and deliver simulation-based projects and activities that address challenges faced by children and families, in line with the service’s Segmentation Model.

The post holder will also be involved in the development of other simulation-based educational programmes and tools that place patients’ perspectives at the centre of education for healthcare professionals. These include interventional procedures and clinical examination using cutting-edge haptic technology.

The post is full-time and fixed term until 30 June 2019 in the first instance and will be based at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital Campus (Fulham Road).

Imperial Expectations guide the behaviour of all our staff.
