Detail information about job Research Fellow in Advanced Powertrain -Fixed Term Contract. Terms and conditions vacancy

The Powertrain and Vehicle Research Centre (PVRC) at the University of Bath is recruiting a Research Fellow to lead the research work for the APC Reducing Vehicle Carbon Emissions Through Development of a Compact, Efficient and Intelligent Powertrain (‘ADAPT-IPT’) project.

The ADAPT-IPT project aims research and simulation into the Wankel rotary IC engine for use in the hybrid powertrain and test and evaluation work of the resulting powertrain system. The Research Fellow will be expected to overlook the delivery of the project work packages, and to support other PVRC projects.

Based at the Department of Mechanical Engineering, PVRC is a leading centre for theoretical, experimental and analytical research into powertrain systems in the UK. PVRC has an excellent track record in delivering industry-relevant projects, and has long established collaborations with industrial partners. The Centre considers its remit to be all of the links in the chain from energy storage to its conversion into mechanical work on board a vehicle. The recently secured £49m investment for the Institute of Advanced Automotive Propulsion Systems (IAAPS) will propel PVRC into a global leading position.

Applicants should possess a PhD degree, or an equivalent professional qualification, in subject area of direct relevance for the project and have significant post-doctoral research experience. Applicants must have experience of 1-D and 3-D engine simulation, data development of engine hardware and engine design. Experience of delivery and involvement in major collaborative research programmes such as Innovate UK or APC consortia would also be highly beneficial. Candidates should be self-motivated and possess project management and technical communication skills.

This position is full time (36.5 hours per week) and is being offered on a fixed term contract basis with an expected expiry date of 31 March 2020.

The University of Bath holds Bronze Award for Athena SWAN scheme, which promotes gender equality among all disciplines. We particularly encourage applications from under-represented groups.

For any informal enquiries about this role please contact Professor Jamie Turner via e-mail [email protected].
