The Department of Mathematical Sciences at the University of Bath is inviting applications for appointments at either Lecturer (Assistant Professor), or Senior Lecturer/Reader (Associate Professor) level in Statistics and its applications in all areas, including Uncertainty Quantification, Data Science, Machine Learning, Evolution, Public Health and Operational Research.
A successful applicant at Senior Lecturer/Reader Level (roughly equivalent to Associate Professor) will have an outstanding track record of independent research of international standing. At Lecturer level (roughly equivalent to Assistant Professor), a successful applicant will have shown exceptional potential for achieving such research excellence.
The appointee will be expected to sustain a leading research programme, and to be active in developing and submitting competitive applications for external funding. Candidates should also have a strong interest in pursuing excellence in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and in supervising graduate students.

The Department of Mathematical Sciences has over 70 academic staff from all areas of Mathematics. There are strong interactions between Statistics and Applied Mathematics, as well as a wide variety of interdisciplinary research projects and industrial collaborations. These activities are supported by the Centre for Doctoral Training in Statistical Applied Mathematics at Bath (SAMBa), which has an annual intake of 10-15 research students. In addition, the Bath Institute for Mathematical Innovation helps businesses solve complex mathematical and statistical problems, and promotes cross-campus research activities and international collaborations.
