The salary will be paid at Grade 6, £32,958 to £39,324 per annum, plus £2,923 per annum London Weighting Allowance.

This post will be Fixed Term for 12 months.

This is a Full-time post.   

Applications are invited for a Computational scientist in metagenomics at the Department of Twin Research, King’s College London. The successful candidate will play a central role in the development of the bioinformatics platform for metagenomics data processing, annotation, and their integration with phenotypic/genotypic and multi –omics data. The work will be based on the largest UK twin-based resource, one of the best phenotyped group of people in the world, and the successful candidate will have the chance to be a key player in a multidisciplinary research team.

Applicants must have a PhD in a relevant subject. Applicants are expected to have outstanding programming skills in R, Unix shell scripting, and in at least a programming language (e.g., Java, C++) and in a scripting language (e.g., Python, Ruby). The candidate will be additionally trained in cloud computing. A solid publication record as well as a proved experience in scientific software development will be advantageous.
