Detail information about job Research Associate. Terms and conditions vacancy

The salary will be paid at Grade 6, £32,958 spine point 31, plus £2,623 per annum London Allowance.

This post will be Fixed Term until 30.06.2018

This is a full time post - 100 % full time equivalent

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Research Associate to undertake work on a BRC funded study exploring sensor based technology and the development of clinical decision making analytics. The systematic management and monitoring of patients with complex neuropsychiatric presentations in rare diseases is problematic and therapeutic strategies aimed at improving patient-centered outcomes are limited. The Centre for Interventional Paediatric Psychopharmacology and Rare Diseases (CIPPRD) at the Maudsley Hospital is a national specialist psychopharmacology unit focusing on integrated mental and physical health care in children and young people aged 2 to 24 years with complex neuropsychiatric disorders. The CIPPRD is pioneering the use of wearable sensor technology and uses real-time biometric physiological data obtained from different devices in patients to assist in patient management. The post holder will play an integral role in supporting members of the CIPPRD to develop algorithms (and if necessary using machine learning approaches) and clinically meaningful outcome measures for the biometric guided therapeutic approach (using wearable sensor technology) that is currently being used for medication decision making within the CIPPRD. The post also offers a unique opportunity for the development of decision making analytics using information obtained from multiple sources such as the CIPPRD, schools and the general population, and be able to marry this with web-based e-health strategies.

This post is well suited to a highly motivated individual with excellent technical skills that has the willingness to work within a clinical team that is using analytics to make a translational impact on the patient care pathway. Candidates should have a PhD (or will shortly be assessed for a PhD) in Computer Science, Mathematics, Electrical Engineering or other relevant area.

The selection process will include competency based questions, embedded within a panel interview.

The deadline for applications is midnight on 10th September 2017.
