Building on the heritage of the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland which was founded in 1784, RCSI Bahrain will enhance health in Bahrain, the other GCC countries and beyond through endeavour, innovation and collaboration in education, research and service.

RCSI Bahrain is a constituent university of the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland and was founded in 2004 under license from the Government of the Kingdom of Bahrain and is dedicated to the development of healthcare leaders who make a difference worldwide, and the advancement of human health on a global scale. Our mission is to inspire, educate and train competent and caring graduates who are well prepared to enter specialty training and assume leadership roles when they graduate. The first cohort of medical and nursing students were admitted in 2004 and 2006 respectively. The University also offers postgraduate programmes in Nursing.

This position is a joint appointment between the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland – Bahrain and the Bahrain Defence Forces Royal Medical Services (BDF). The level of the academic appointment (Lecturer/Senior Lecturer) will depend on the qualifications and relevant experience of the successful candidate.

The Lecturer/Senior Lecturer position at RCSI Bahrain involves teaching pathology to undergraduate medical, nursing and other students. Participating in the student-focused clinical cases and clinical skills sessions; postgraduate education and training; and engaging in research.

The main duties relating to the Consultant in Pathology position is to provide laboratory/diagnostic service in the Bahrain Defence Forces Hospital. To participate as part of a team of consultants in the provision of pathology and cytopathology services according to agreed rotas and to assist in the maintenance and development of those services in accordance with medical and technical advances.

You must be hold a Medical Qualification and be eligible for registration with the Bahrain authorities to practice pathology in Bahrain. Membership of one of the Royal Colleges of Pathology (Histopathology) or North American Boards of Pathology (Histopathology).  Also have teaching experience and knowledge of current issues in medical education and in pathology education specifically.
