The Department of Biochemistry is seeking a Senior Research Laboratory Technician to provide comprehensive support for the research of Professor Richard Farndale based in the University of Cambridge, Department of Biochemistry in central Cambridge. The role is also expected to provide general support to three other groups in the Hopkins Building located in the same area.

Hands-on laboratory work will include manipulation of peptides prior to testing by ELISA and in cell culture. The successful candidate will take blood from volunteers for use in the laboratory, maintain cell lines, and ship peptides worldwide. They will be responsible for managing many aspects of a busy research laboratory, including safety, the oversight and purchase of chemicals, and arranging the maintenance of equipment. Experience of working in a cell biology/biochemistry/haematology laboratory will be desirable, but full training will be provided as necessary.

The successful candidate should have qualifications in a relevant science subject, and they will have to demonstrate good organisational and communication skills.
