Fixed term until 31 December 2019 The School of Engineering is seeking to appoint a Research Fellow to work on the MIRA Project funded by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. You will undertake research on imaging techniques to quantify flight behaviours of mosquitoes, develop systems and instruments and support their deployment with our collaborators at the Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine. You will be expected to contribute to and lead the preparation of journal papers and conference presentations, supervise student projects within the group, and produce and present regular project reports ensuring that the project objectives and deadlines are met. You will have a developing research profile with the ability to publish high quality research output. You will have excellent IT skills including demonstrable ability to use IT to process data and you will be aware of the requirements of handling and processing biological data. You will be an excellent communicator with strong communication and interpersonal skills. If you have not yet been awarded your PhD but are near submission or have recently submitted your PhD, any offers of employment will be made as Research Assistant on level 5 of the University grade structure. Upon successful award of your PhD and evidence of this fact, you will be promoted to Research Fellow on the first point of the level 6 of the University grade structure. If you have not yet been awarded your PhD but are near submission or have recently submitted your PhD, any offers of employment will be made as Research Assistant on level 5 of the University grade structure (£28,453 pa). Upon successful award of your PhD and evidence of this fact, you will be promoted to Research Fellow on the first point of level 6 of the University grade structure (£29,301 pa).
