Location: London, SW15 5PU
The University of Roehampton has a proud history stretching back 175 years through its collegiate foundations and the last ten years in particular has seen it grow in strength and reputation. Today, it is ranked as the best modern University in London and the most research intensive modern university in the UK.
Situated on two stunning parkland sites in Roehampton, south-west London, the University has a diverse community of 9,000 students from 140 countries. Not only one of the longest standing providers of teacher education, it remains one of the largest in the UK and one of the fastest-growing providers of online-education. It has a diverse academic portfolio, including departments as broadly ranging as Dance, where it is ranked No.1 for research in the UK, Life Sciences, Psychology, Business and a Law School, to name a few.
With the support of alumni, partners and friends of the University and its Colleges, together we want to change the lives of current and future students and ensure that Roehampton makes a significant and positive impact on wider society. Underpinning this will be the continued growth and development of our philanthropic income.
We are searching for a new Head of Development who will lead a small team to implement the University’s Development plan in order to attract funding to Roehampton and help it to continue its upward trajectory. You will work closely with the Director of Alumni, Development and Careers to develop a vision and culture of philanthropy throughout the University and create, nurture and manage relationships with alumni, corporate supporters, trusts and foundations and other key stakeholders.
The successful individual will come with proven experience of soliciting and securing income generation from a range of sources including individuals, corporate organisations, trusts and foundations, etc. People relationships and excellent interpersonal skills will be crucial in your success in this role, as will your ability to adapt, influence and think creatively. Although experience of fundraising in the higher education sector is highly desirable, individuals coming from the broader non-profit sector will be considered.
