These two new full-time posts are available from October 2017 on a fixed term basis until September 2020.

The College wishes to recruit two Industrial Research Fellows to support the work of Prof Richard Everson. This post is available from October 2017 until September 2020. The post-holder will work as part of a European Regional Development Fund supported Environmental Futures & Big Data Impact Lab providing research and innovation support to small and medium sized enterprises developing new products and services.

The post-holder will work as part of a new Data Science Institute, an inter-disciplinary centre bringing together researchers working on all aspects of data science. Central to this effort are research fellows who will work in close collaboration with problem owners and stakeholders.  Research fellows will have a main thematic area in which they will be expert and conduct research: 1. Machine learning, statistics; 2. High Performance Computing for data science; 3. Data visualisation. They will work on specific, defined projects and Challenges with members of the University and commercial and industrial collaborators.  Research fellows will also participate in and organise Challenge workshops for the co-creation of projects and the dissemination and deployment of the results.

The successful applicants will be able to present information on research progress and outcomes, communicate complex information, orally, in writing and electronically and prepare proposals and applications to external bodies.

Applicants will possess a relevant PhD and be able to demonstrate sufficient knowledge in the discipline and of research methods and techniques to work within established research programmes.
