Grad 9 - Full time starting salary is normally in the range £48,327 to £55,998. With potential progression once in post to £73,018 a year.

Following the approval of a capital development programme that exceeds £600 million in the next five years with projects from Edgbaston to Dubai, we are currently seeking to recruit several highly motivated new members of our Estates team. Main Duties and Responsibilities

To provide strategic advice to senior management on the development and ongoing maintenance of the campus services infrastructure.

To lead and motivate the Mechanical and Electrical Engineering (M&E) Design & Verification Team in effectively interpreting client requirements and procuring facilities that meet those requirements within the constraints of the University’s financial and property strategies - procuring work through the engagement of consultants or from in-house resources.

Providing advice on M&E design, services and principles to Estates and other members of the University, as required.

To be responsible for the timely delivery of M&E projects and the M&E element of building projects that meet the requirements of the University within specified quality and financial parameters.

Skills and Knowledge

  • A relevant engineering Degree or equivalent qualification. In exceptional circumstances, this may be replaced with proven success within building services engineering
  • Membership of a building services related body (such as; CIBSE, IMechE, IEE, etc.)
  • Thorough knowledge of project management, contract administration and the operation of building contracts, backed by substantial experience
  • Sound and extensive experience of building services and their procurement in substantial construction projects
  • A clear understanding of the Health and Safety issues relating to construction /building services and infra-structure, and the ability to discharge the associated responsibilities
  • The ability to work as part of a team, and to contribute fully to the Senior Management Team
  • Proven ability to lead and motivate a team
  • Ability to form strong working relationships within the Estate Management Office, the University and other stakeholders
  • Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills, with the ability to persuade, influence and negotiate with staff at all levels of seniority
  • Possession of good IT skills
  • The ability to priorities and work under pressure
