Detail information about job Postdoctoral Research Associate in Human Decision Making. Terms and conditions vacancy

Candidates are invited to apply for a postdoctoral research position in the Human Information Processing Lab directed by Professor Chris Summerfield in the Department of Experimental Psychology (EP) at the University of Oxford, to work on a project entitled “Abstraction and Generalisation in Human Decision-Making”.

The post is funded by the ERC for 24 months, with possibility of renewal.

The role will involve designing, conducting and disseminating research aimed at understanding how humans learn new information, and generalise this information to make decisions in previously unseen task settings. The postholder will have the opportunity to work independently in a team of researchers focussed on understanding learning and decision-making in humans, to use a range of behavioural, neuroimaging and computational methods including neural network modelling (in collaboration with Google Deepmind). The research will be conducted in EP and at the Oxford Centre for Functional Imaging of the Brain (fMRIB), two world-leading research centres housing numerous groups with a strong focus on learning and decision-making. The post offers opportunities for career development, including co-supervision of PhD and undergraduate student projects.

Candidates will hold a PhD in psychology, neuroscience, computer science, or a closely related discipline and demonstrable experience with designing and conducting experiments involving human participants. You will have strong quantitative and programming skills (e.g. Matlab or Python), a proven track record of publishing work and excellent communication and interpersonal skills, along with the ability to manage your own research and administrative activities.

You will be required to upload a covering letter explaining how you meet the job requirements, as well as a CV and details of two referees as part of your online application.

The closing date for applications is 12.00 midday on 15 September 2017.
