In exceptional circumstances, it may be possible to offer a supplement to the salary range of up to £70,000 for a 5 year period. Any such supplement would be awarded on the basis of a demonstrable history of exceptional achievement and is entirely at the discretion of the University.

The University of Cambridge seeks an outstanding major gifts fundraiser with the ability to develop long-term holistic partnerships with high level donors to secure financial support for the School of Technology's most critical priorities.

The School of Technology has always been at the forefront of the latest innovations in science and technology, and has had a major impact on the 'Cambridge Phenomenon', the rapid and highly successful growth of science-based industry in and around the city. 'Silicon Fen' is now home to over 1,500 companies, including numerous University spin-outs, which provide some 54,000 jobs and generate over £12 billion in revenue annually. These companies work hand-in-hand with the University's technological innovators, converting cutting-edge research into real world applications which generate wealth and improve the quality of life all around the world.

Across the School of Technology, researchers and students are working together - and being inspired by one another - to tackle global challenges in diverse fields and to promote the practical application and real world impact of the University's innovation and research. Current fundraising priorities for the School are the relocation of the Engineering Department to West Cambridge; Entrepreneurship and Innovation; and Graduate Studentships.

In autumn 2015, Cambridge launched its most ambitious fundraising campaign to date. The Dear World Yours, Cambridge campaign for the University and Colleges looks to raise £2bn to attract the brightest minds, create the most inspiring environment for world-class research and enable Cambridge to continue to respond to the world's biggest challenges.

Responsible for the design, support and delivery of the major gifts programme for the School, you will leverage partnerships with world class academics and leaders across the University to deliver significant philanthropic income.

Managing a small team of fundraisers, your mission will be to bring a forward-thinking and innovative approach to developing new, and building on existing, high-value partnerships with donors. 

We are looking for a candidate with a proven track record in major gift fundraising from individuals, corporates and/or trusts and foundations. A strategic thinker, you will be capable of building strong relationships with high value potential partners and senior academic stakeholders. You should have  outstanding communication and negotiation skills, and have the gravitas and to be credible across a variety of audiences. An entrepreneurial and collaborative approach will be critical as will be a passion for the research and educational mission of the University of Cambridge.
